Far Awt Designs, or shortly F.A.D. joint, a collective of young artists and art appreciators alike, composed of lorna (www.talamaningning.multiply.com) and mike of the twee-pop band liquid candy, and graphic artist yeng (www.musecordell.multiply.com), came up with the idea of making things out of their and other people's odd, or rather, far out ideas. Together with the bookay-ukay individuals (www.bookay.multiply.com), they have started bringing some of their stuff-latag-style at events such as the UP Fair, Fete de la Musique, Sinekalye, and even at Kadangyan/Pinikpikan gigs at Penguin gallery. They were then selling accessories and clothes designed and altered by lorna, pre-owned books of rare titles (works of sylvia plath, john updike, j.d.salinger, etc.), music and skate magazines (Spin, Rolling Stones, Paste), and tapes and CDs of different musical genres (from underground foreign punk bands, to indie 4AD artists such as belly and the throwing muses, to mainstream bands such as blur, kula shaker, fatboy slim, beck, etc.). They were also giving away zines and poetry folios written by mike (www.ifihadadrummachine.deviantart.com) and lorna (www.talamaningning.deviantart.com). Eventually they brought in band mugs and necklaces designed with album covers, faces of music icons such as the beatles, the doors, rolling stones, etc., and miniature repro art. Their latest addition to their products are the far-out designed notebooks, and pop art collectible matchboxes by yeng.
As they would like to promote individuality and love for music and the arts to young and old people alike, they will always bring in their passion to come up with new and more far-out designed stuff that would reach out to anyone's pocket as it offers products of very affordable prices. They also aim to have a place of their own where people can visit and buy their stuff, but for the meantime they have consigned their products at the bookay-ukay bookstore in UP village (beside Tomato Kick) and soon, at the Museo Pambata Gift Shop (Museo Pambata, Roxas Blvd. Mla.)
